Welcome to Derby Muslim Forum

As you will be Aware, recently The Derby Muslim community has been in the spotlight for many reasons and subject to much scrutiny. The mainstream society has a perception, that radicilisation is increasing amongst young Muslims; they hold anti western views and want to exist in isolation. This perception has portrayed Muslim community of Derby in a very negative way and has been labeled as an extreme city by the central government.

Derby’s Muslim community has risen to the challenge and is determined to combat extreme elements, which may exist in the community and after serious consideration with various community leaders; it has established Derby Muslim Forum. A forum which aims to provide the Muslim community of Derby with one consistent voice and ability to influence and change those things which help underpin and support the development of cohesive communities.

DMF aims to bring the community together and ensure there exists a collective voice in Derby, working in collaboration with both statutory and voluntary organisations to tackle inequalities, discrimination, racism and other issues including portraying Islam in a accurate way, encourage participation and diversity to enable the community to have active sense of citizenship and effectively wider community cohesion.
